Time for a Growth Spurt

Oh my holy goodness gracious! It's almost been a year since I've posted on this thing. That's just shameful :( With that said, I best be gettin' better at it :)

Diving right in, the following has been on my mind so much lately:

"In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way and in that I learn from him." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I don't think standing at a stumpy 5'5" really has anything to do with how far up I'm looking to those around me. The people I have been blessed to be acquainted with at past and at present are definitely "giants" in their own right....for which I am so grateful.

Sometimes I think Heavenly Father made me a bit too impressionable. I wince at the thought of a paper cut, smile when remembering a past joke, and blush when recalling mistakes made. However, I've come to realize this has also allowed others to touch my heart, leaving lasting fingerprints.

Today I was filing some papers of mine and came across a loose journal entry that never quite made it into my journal. It was dated March 28, 2010 which was just a few weeks before college graduation and just a few days before General Conference. I was pretty downhearted about several things, including where to live after graduation. After hashing out my frustrations I wrote:

"I came across a scripture that I feel like is for me. I'm substituting my name in it: 'And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Blessed art thou, Kristen, because of thy faith, for thou has sought me dilligently, with lowliness of heart.

And inasmuch as ye keep my commandments, ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you; yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.'

I feel like this is a small message from Heavenly Father to me. I feel so grateful. I want to qualify and keep His commandments to make Him happy and qualify for this choice land above all other lands that I will be lead to after graduation."

I now find it hilarious that the "promised land" was the itty bitty town of Boring, Oregon. At the same time, it's such a wonderful feeling to know I'm where I'm supposed to be. I largely feel I'm here because of the blessing it's been to have met and learned from so many truly superior people.
